About Chris

I was raised in Minnesota. I joined the Navy right out of high school and moved back to Minnesota when I got out. I am married to the best woman I have ever met and am a stepfather to our two teenage boys.

I am passionate about preparedness and about sharing what I have learned. Writing this blog has been the most joy-filled, time consuming endeavour of my life and each time I get an e-mail or a comment on an article thanking me, it makes it worth every moment I spend researching and writing.

My regular job is in IT and when I am not there or working on the blog, I like to play PC games, read and enjoy time at the pistol range.

Here is a post I made called “Getting to know Chris”.

  1. I found your site and really cannot wait to get more into reading it all.

I have found my faith again and I believe that we will live through the tribulation and I keep stumping across the same verse in the Bible talking about being prepared and I am thinking it is something I need to start working on.

I hope that I can learn a lot here!!

    Thanks, Shirley

    • Hi Shirley,

I’m glad you came back to the Lord, and have started prepping. I hope you enjoy the site, please feel free to email me with any questions.

    • Hi Shirley, I came across your comment while checking out Chris’ site. I would like to recommend a book to you, “Raptured” by Zola Levitt. Zola goes through Bible prophecies concerning the tribulation period. I think you will find the book an asset to your preparedness journey. God bless.

  2. I stumbled on your site while seeking for Christian perspectives on prepping.

As I learn more about what I should be doing to be a more “complete” Christian man and husband, I have been seeking God’s direction with regard to my role as a husband and my responsibility to take care of not only my immediate family on a daily basis, but also be able to provide for others (Christians or not) who may have need when significant life altering events present themselves.

With that, I want to be mindful to NOT let my preparedness activities become an idol in my life, and want to remind my brothers and sisters in Christ of this as well.

I pray that you may keep God first and be guided by the Holy Spirit in your preparedness endeavors.

    God Bless!

  3. As I am sure has been mentioned here before;

    Matthew 5:44-45
    44…Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

As it says, the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Be prepared yourself and when it happens, help others in need as well and as best you can.

  4. Good to see a fellow “Prepared Christian”(my blog name also)…I would someday like to build a whole bible course on Prepping as a Christian and teach it across the country.

    Keep up the good work

I’m glad to see another Christian preparedness site. I had the same idea, and might start teaching a local class. I wish you well on this.

So happy to see you helping Christians, and other like minded persons, prepare for the tribulation.

A book, “Discovery to Catastrophe,” is a great work of fiction in which biblical truth regarding the teaching of scripture is interwoven with a fictional story in which a small group discovers this truth, and begins to prepare for it.

Blessings on you and the readers of this blog.

    • Chris Ray says:

I think people should be preparing in general for the wide list of things that could happen.

I’m actually reading Discovery to Catastrophe now, I like it so far.

  6. hey there and thanks for this site. i am a christian and a SURVIVALIST for what is coming, but not in it’s truest sense of preparing just for us. i have a vision and a dream of a REFUGE that God will lead them there when TRIBULATION starts. much has been done on our property out in the wilderness already, but much more still needs doing. i presently live in Brisbane/Queensland with my wife and we travel to and from the 40 acre property as often as we can. it has been like trying to find a needle in a haystack for another CHRISTIAN SURVIVALIST, especially here in Brisbane with the SAME DREAM of building a REFUGE for those that will be going through TRIBULATION. i am still seeking such a man or married couple with building skills, especially in the construction of BAG HOUSES, if you know what a bag house is? ask and i will tell you , or type it in your search engine and have a look. i often BLOG about survival myself in different forums. so if you have any members that would suit such a project then please pass along my email, with kindest regards steve

I know there are some visitors from Australia, I hope you can connect with some.

    • Son of Liberty says:

Steve, you will really appreciate the biblical truth discussed in the book, “Discovery to Catastrophe” as it takes a similar approach, that there will be a place (possibly places) of refuge during the time of great tribulation. They will be prepared by God himself (RE 13:14-16), and the writer holds that God will call his people to the/those place(s).

You will find it interesting and helpful given what you have said.

    • Hi Steve,

Blessed to read your comment to Chris as my husband and I are preppers and working on being Survivalists as well! It would be a blessing to be able to have 40 acres! That is so awesome!

My husband read and studied Joel Skousen’s book “Strategic Relocation” which is why we are leaving California and heading out to purchase some acreage and prepare property as well. I had never heard of the “bag houses” and will definitely check it out. Thank you for that information.

      • hey there, sorry 4 such a late reply I have not been on this site for some time. I hope all is well with you and hubby. just plodding along here in queensland Australia out in the bush. I am hoping to find someone to come live here with us and help out, but that is like finding a needle in a haystack. all the best to you both. with kindest regards steve

  7. Chris,

I came across your website this morning. It’s Sunday morning, and we would usually be in church, but we’ve just been hit by a major ice storm, so no church today. Our pastor in our small church here in Cynthiana, Indiana has been encouraging our people to be prepared, and he is doing prep work himself. We’ve started a pantry of supplies, but that’s about all so far. However, your website and several things I’ve came across lately has really motivated me to get more serious about this. Thanks for all the tremendous amount of work that you’ve obviously done in putting this together. I’ve got a very simple blog myself, and I know how much work just that takes to keep up to date and relevant. I downloaded your eBook (thanks!), and will definitely read it soon. L

    • Chris Ray says:

      Hi Wayne,

I’m glad you found the blog, and am glad it has helped you out. I am glad to hear your pastor is encouraging your congregation to prepare, I wish more would.

Thank you for the compliments, the blog has taken a lot of work, and I have enjoyed most of it lol.

  8. Gerald Lawson says:

I spent some of my federal service career doing “threat assessments”. That experience prepared me, in my retirement years, to develop a disaster preparedness plan for my wife and me. Any threat you assess should give you answers needed to properly prepare for any eventuality, especially those regarding our five basic needs. Thanks to Chris’s e-book I just read, I have added many ideas to my own plan for meet any disaster: manmade or natural, with logical, effective methods to survive.

  9. I would love to hear from other fellow Australians that live here in queensland. I am looking for another Christian couple or mature single guy to come live on our 40 acre property and help gets more done. those interested please get in touch. regards steve

  10. Chris, I enjoyed your article on urban prepping. My wife and I built in 1980 a completely underground house with only the south facing side exposed. The house is very secluded on 5 acres with pasture/garden area. We are at a time in our lives that the maintenance is a little more than we can do and the 4/5 bedrooms make the house itself a little hard to maintain. We are looking to sell and would like to know if anyone has any suggestions. We are not going to use a realtor. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    • hey there, ru sure u both desire 2 sell? especially with what is soon to come upon this world? have you talked about other fellow believers live with u both?? I would seek god b4 you sell unless you have already done so. take care both of you. with kindest regards steve

  11. Chris,

Great blog. I believe Christians should do everything they can to be prepared not only to help themselves but others. I find a lot in the pepper community tend to focus on their family (which is great) but neglect some possible obligation to help others. I’m working to not only help my family but to also be a blessing to others during a potential situation. Thanks for your writing and resources! Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I am glad you enjoy it.

    • I totally agree my dream and plan is to leave such a legacy for those that will be left behind after the rapture has happened. anyone here in queensland Australia interested in helping me on my 40 acre property then get in touch.
